Native American Jewelry the Real Thing

It is interesting that today I received an email from someone on the doubledeedeals.com website. I often have people contact me via email, but I often get questioned about the genuineness of the Native American Jewelry that I promote. I started to give an automatic answer and than thought I should include a more detailed explanation for my confidence in the authenticity of all the bracelets, necklaces, men's rings, women's rings, pendants, watches and other pieces on www.doubledeedeals.com. It is my great joy to know many of the individual artisans that make these beautiful works of Native American Jewelry art. I have had the privilege of watching them forge the Sterling Silver settings, select and polish the individual stones and inlay the pieces of Turquoise and Gem stone. Some Native Jewelry artisans work on their own and many work in workshops, but all the Native American Jewelry,(including bolo ties, Mr Jackson)are individually created by American Indian Jewelry Artists. You can shop with confidence at doubledeedeals.com knowing that you are buying genuine Native American Jewelry. This is my business and my passion; genuine, authentic, original, and absolutely gorgeous American Indian Jewelry. I love these pieces:

Native American Jewelry: abit about Turquoise

Turquoise is classified as a hydrous phosphate, in the same category as apatite, mimetite, pytomorphite and variscite, to name a few.  Turquoise was formed when water trickled through a host rock many years ago, leaving behind deposits of copper, aluminum and zinc. Copper is the important mineral  that dictates the color  the Turquoise will be. From pale powdery blue to deep green and every shade in between it is all determined by the amount of copper in the mineral makeup. However if  there is more aluminum added the color tends to be  more green or white. If zinc is present in greater amounts the stone has a more yellow-green appearance and becomes harder. Here are some examples of beautiful and different colors of Turquoise from the DoubleDeeDeals website: Make these pieces part of your fall wardrobe or start your holiday shopping early!

Poetry and Native American Jewelry

I have always been a poetry lover and recently discovered a Native American Poet named Hershman John. He was born in California and grew up on the Navajo reservation in Sand Springs, Arizona. He earned an undergraduate degree and an MFA in creative writing from Arizona State University. John is the author of the poetry collection I Swallow Turquoise for Courage (2007). His poems have been published in journals and anthologies including Puerto del Sol, Hayden’s Ferry Review, and O Taste and See: Food Poems. His poetry evokes an emotional response to the images he paints with his words. John’s poetry is influenced by his Navajo heritage. He has written of DinĂ© creation stories, sometimes placing the figures in contemporary settings. His subjects in I Swallow Turquoise for Courage range from Navajo culture to poems referencing Vincent van Gogh and Elizabeth Bishop. John teaches at Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona. I look upon the creations of Native American Jewelry as another form of poetry, speaking to our souls with lines and color, just as words on the page do. I see myself and my small business as encouraging the preservation of this beautiful culture and these talented artisans. DoubleDeeDeals is my outlet for the love I have of this great art. Here are a couple of my current favorite pieces of Native American Jewelry:

Native American Jewelry Summer Sale

The nights are getting cooler as summer comes to a close. This is my favorite time of year to visit the reservations in the southwest. My friends have been busy all summer creating new and beautiful Native American Jewelry for you to enjoy collecting and wearing. Now it is time for me to reduce inventory and make room for more Turquoise Jewelry, Zuni Animal Fetish carvings and Dream Catchers. I am currently running a sale on DoubleDeeDeals, 25% off and it has gotten very busy. But I am never too busy to visit with my customers. I recently got a call from Diane in Wisconsin. Diane and her husband are celebrating their Wedding Anniversary and it was a joy to be able to share best wishes with her. Diane and her husband are Native American Jewelry collectors and particularly love the inlay work of Ted Secatero
It so wonderful to be able to commemorate special days with a wonderful piece of wearable Native American Jewelry Art. I am going to be looking for a very special Bolo Tie and Belt Buckle for my favorite cowboy as we look forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary very soon. Elouise Key is one my favorite NatĂ¯ve American Jewelry artists and will be looking at her one of a kind pieces for my husband's collection. Here is one her beauties and one from another Turquoise Artist. Of course I do not let my spouse have all the fun...you will see me wearing a Bolo on occasion, because cowgirls can wear them too! And belt buckles can be so much fun....Happy Shopping!

Native American Jewelry Lovers and Readers

The one thing I love as much as Native American Jewelry and Dream Catchers is reading a good book and I just finished Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis. What a beautiful love story, between Katie and Jesus. The book was inspirational and encouraging and made me cry, I do not read many books that have such a profound effect besides, of course, The Bible.
The next book I want to read is another piece of non-fiction titled In the Light of Justice: The Rise of Human Rights in Native America and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.  The book offers steps that societies must take to provide a more just society and heal past injustices committed against indigenous peoples.  This book is written by former Native American Rights Fund staff Walter R Echo-Hawk. Walter previously published In the Courts of the Conqueror: The 10 Worst Indian Law Cases Ever Decided and Battlefields and Burial Grounds.
As a supporter of Native American Art and Culture I like to stay informed on the legal and national side of Native American news and issues. I am just a small businesswomen but I see
reflected in the beautiful works of wearable art on DoubleDeeDeals.com, generations of suppression that these incredibly talented artisans have endured. I see their hearts poured into the colorful craftsmanship I enjoy so much. I pray for healing, encouragement and an embracing of this beautiful culture in and among all Americans.
I am not a powerful politician, a mover or a shaker. I am just a lover of Native American Jewelry, Native American Art and Native American Culture. I just try to put my money where my mouth is, to help preserve what I hold dear and with God's help I hope to shine a small light on this incredibly valuable artistic and cultural community. Are these pieces not gorgeous examples of wearable Art!

Sweet Dreams, With Native American Jewelry, Dream Catchers

So here we are closing in on the end of summer already. After going to the store today I started thinking about shopping for the children and young adults going back to school. The summers go by so quick and I do not want to wait for the last minute and fight the crowds for dorm and school supplies. I like to shop with a list and I am thinking this year I will add a Dream Catcher to my list for each student. Dream Catchers can hang from their bed  or window and in addition to adding beautiful dĂ©cor it can remind them of home and  to call home. To review the entire Dream Catcher meaning go to http://www.doubledeedeals.com/ and you can get the whole story.  The Dream Catcher is sharing a wish for their sweet dreams. There is also a small Native American made Dream Catcher key chain that is perfect for attaching to backpacks.

These wonderful Native American Jewelry Dream Catchers are such a fun and inexpensive gift to give with such a positive message. We all need to dream big.

In addition there are Dream Catcher Necklaces and Earrings for those that want to further enjoy this enchanting symbol. Here are a few:

Stacking Turquoise Jewelry.

As I prepare to attend a family reunion....On My! I am packing up my jewelry to wear for the weekend. The forecast is cooler, around 70, so I think we will spend less time at the pool and more time playing croquet and lawn games. I cannot decide which rings to bring, so I think I will bring several and "stack" them. So I will be able to wear more than one ring on a finger and I will stack bracelets as well. The key to "stacking" is to choose non-competing rings and bracelets. You want them to coordinate, not match. so here are a few examples of rings that can be stacked. Of course you do not have to use strictly Native American Jewelry but these are my favorites.
I love wearing bracelets, I guess I just like the added color and sparkle. Here is a set of bracelets that I will "stack" this weekend.
I hope you will enjoy time with family this summer as well. Cherish those you love and tell them you love them often.

Native American Jewelry Summer Tips

Summer Jewelry Tips

Summer Jewelry Tips:

1. Heading to a BBQ or the beach—Choose jewelry with no gemstones or one large gemstone, slathering on sunblock or dripping BBQ sauce on jewelry is easier to clean if it is all Silver.

2. The heat can usually cause your fingers to swell! Make sure you realize this when picking out rings to wear. Stacking lots of tight-fitting rings is not a good idea! Use dish soap to help slide rings that won’t budge right off!

3. Silver and Turquoise look amazing with tanned skin! Invest in a few statement-making Native American Jewelry pieces and highlight your bronzed look.

4. Summer heat makes us want to wear our hair up! With the cute top-knots that are very popular right now, larger earrings are ideal. I’ve picked a couple of pretty pairs here.

5. Pool party invitations don’t mean you have to keep your beautiful American Indian Jewelry behind! Although chlorine does not mix well with many gems, silver and gold, if you don’t plan on going underwater you still can wear some nice earrings and a necklace.

Enjoy your summer and enjoy wearing all your Authentic Native American Jewelry!

More About Earrings

Earrings are an easy to wear accessory that anyone can use to complete a look. There are dozens and dozens of different styles to choose from on http://www.doubledeedeals.com . While deciding which earrings to purchase is largely a matter of personal taste, it may be helpful to consider the face shape in making the most enhancing choices. In the last post we discussed some ideas for round, diamond and heart shaped faces. Now we will  talk about some others.

If you are one of the fortunate graced with an oval shaped face almost any style of earring will be beautiful hanging from your ears. But for a jewelry investment that really creates a striking look go with oval shaped dangling earrings like the Native American Jewelry Sunnyside Turquoise earrings you see pictured. This shape will create a perfectly balanced frame for your face.
Women with square faces will want to find earrings that will soften the jaw line and cheekbones. Elongated shapes will achieve that enhanced look. Hoop and dangling earrings are both great styles to choose. Larger sized hoops and brighter colors will increase the drama and attention.

Finally for those with narrow face shapes you will look stunning in the long dangle earrings as they tend to minimize the length of the face . When you are choosing dangle earrings look for those with a slight curve to accentuate softness and the line of the cheekbone like these American Indian  Sterling Silver Feather Earrings.

Earrings-Choosing the most flattering for your face.

The right earrings can add a finishing look to any outfit and enhance your overall look. http://www.doubledeedeals.com/ has many different styles of Native American Jewelry earrings  to chose from. Most of us choose these feminine accessories based on their overall style, color and material. This shopping method offers a great way to find earrings that match an outfit in color or style but neglects the importance of face shape in making those important buying decisions. By wearing the right earrings for your face shape your natural beauty will be enhanced and accentuated. The Sterling Silver and Turquoise Jewelry is handcrafted and created to be bringing you compliments for many moons to come.
For example:
I have a round face so I look for earrings that will flatter by elongating my face such as teardrop shaped and dangle earrings. I look for designs that  are long and angular with a thin to medium width
such as this pair from http://www.doubledeedeals.com/

For those with diamond shaped faces and very pronounced cheek bones, the most flattering earrings will be have softer lines and elegant curves in both a dangle and hoop style.

If you have a heart-shaped face you will want to look for earrings with elongated curves to draw attention to the eyes, cheekbones and jawline. The chandelier earrings look especially lovely on a heart shaped face.

Your face may be narrow, square or oval and I will talk about the most flattering choices for those face shapes on my next blog post.
